Trying to research whether I should put in wood chips for a kids playground and 6 of the first 7 results are companies trying to sell stuff. The first two hits are anti-wood chips…but they’re both from a turf maker.

Otherwise, with generic "wood chips", you get a mix of ground up branches, twigs, shredded leaves, and some dirt. Okay for mulching trees/shrubs, but not playground suitable.
i wonder what we will use next?
my best guess is a federated network, so corporations cant own any part of it
The answer btw is yes, I’ve worked in young childhood education for years, wood chips are a great surface for kids!
Rubber is bad for the environment and will cause cancer.
No brainer.
Honestly a playground is only as good as its upkeep. This is true whether you use wood chips, pea gravel, rubber mulch, rubber bounce surfaces, etc. if it isn’t maintained correctly, it becomes dangerous

1. use https://udm14.com/ which is a google search engine that strips out the BS.
2. when using Google search, change the search parameter from "All" at the top to "web." Does pretty much the same thing as nbr 1.
I mean it’s also its own kind of crazy town but still, I think that’s a better bet than a general Google search.

2nd hit was that turf company but rest seem legitimate.
Also I would consider rubber mulch for a play structure
Google made it so good that we are now angry if we have to look past the first page.
Just an observation.
Personal opinion: fuck wood chips because landing on them when jumping from high above hurt!
Or try a different search engine?
Although they can be dangerous to ingest and have a high risk of choking so be sure to chew sufficiently.

Google (Gemini) seems to struggle a lot more than Copilot (or Chat GPT)
Rubber base/pellets- kids will have black dust on them all the time

Real issue is with SEO and the fact that, in general, everything is geared towards selling something. There's a greater blur between what are ads and what aren't.
Both last 25+ years. The rubber mulch can also be reused elsewhere later.
Russian dressing got its name from its use in the Crimean war. It was primarily used when British soldiers would run Russian soldiers through after they fired their muskets.
Wood chips were invented in 1733 by Sir Edward Throdwollop Woodchip IV...
My city does free mulch day. And has free mulch year-round. I use it around my garden beds.
Not a lot of splinters when I walk without shoes out there, but definitely a lot of “ouch” pokes.

We raised money at my elementary school for a roller slide. Everyone loved it until they discovered that loose clothing and long hair could get caught in the rollers.
The 80’s were great!
They worked great in 2000 and even a few years before.
Case in point, both google and the long dead Altavista would have given her solid results in 2004, along with AskJeeves and at least a half dozen other options. No SEO.
Let's expand that everywhere
"Hi, I'm here for an X-Ray, I think I broke my leg"
"Would you like to buy a cast and crutches?"
"Is it broken?"
"The cast & crutch manufacturers think it is"
Congratulations.
