I know nobody wants to hear this, but Schumer is right.

And the threat of a mass movement with Fed unions as a coordinating backbone is really the only thing that can back up the courts at this point.
That's bad for Democrats?
You're misreading the politics of the situation.
I don’t think this is politics anymore; this is bullying, domination, and abuse. And the worst thing you can do is just give in. There’s never a better time to fight than right now.
The next time you back down is a little easier; it still stings, but not as bad.
Eventually you stop pretending; you’ve already given up so much, what’s one more thing.
"If you want to stop Republicans from doing bad things, you need to win races."
Maybe, if you want to win races, you show strength in opposition and not acquiesce to a billionaires ketamine- coup. I'm not voting for folks who bend the knee.
The administration would have already identified what they consider non-essential employees in case the furlough took place. I think they would get rid of the employees anyway, shutdown or no shutdown. They don’t care about norms, rules or laws.
You're so fucking wrong it's physically painful.
You and Chamberlain have the same reasoning.
They're doing whatever they want anyway, why not fight where you can?
Pathetic pieces of shit. No amount of compliance will save you from fascism.
Ever.
We can't handle a government shutdown because we don't have the political capital? The CR damages DC schools so you want to support it? We should have just won elections? Elon is firing everyone amyway?
Can't believe that was actually written down!
Trump sucks at chess, but he's totally willing to jiggle the board, scream, hand pieces to passersby &c to fuck up your game. MattY and Schumer won't respond in kind because they really want to get back to chess.
Ideas like this will be on the ballot when Schumer gets primaried and he will lose because of it.
Collaborators will NOT be forgiven or forgotten.
In a pure policy environment, you and Schumer are right. That's not what we have.
Shame on you.
This space shouldn't become a Musk-style echo chamber just with different political leanings.
Collaboration with fascists is not the answer, you weasel
If I hear a single Democrat who votes for this say one thing bad about what happens in the next 6 months I'm going to lose my mind.
A vote for this signals approval of what trump is currently doing.
None of your contacts understand the new world they’re in, and the stubbornness is getting people killed
Democrats are holding a winning hand, it's just mind-numbingly short-sighted fools like you that are telling them to fold.
Holding out to weed out the poison pills is not nothing. There’s absolutely nothing to be gained by conceding tonight.
“We do not find any evidence that accommodative strategies reduce radical right support. If anything, our results suggest that they lead to more voters defecting to the radical right.”

None of it is that deep.
"You need to back moderates in red-leaning districts and encourage party leaders to take popular positions and win."
It's not about taking popular positions, it's about the appearance of it, and how do they do that without a big public show of it?
Zero.
Republicans excel at knife fighting. Democrats excel at dithering and hand wringing.
But I can't rule out pettiness for DC joining a suit re birth right citizenship, or DC possibly offering funds for a stadium deal or DC hiring fired Fed workers, or something else.
The shutdown can only last so long because the "essential workers" are working without pay.
Voting for this is sanctioning what Musk is doing.
Cowardice.
You don't mention that the CR pretty much allow Trump to shut down the government at will?
Pretty poorly researched, honestly
Well done
You understand that this gives Trump carte blanche to cut whatever the fuck he wants without Congress' approval, right?
Excellent.
This is capitulation. And it'll happen again. Schumer is feckless. This is horseshit!
He did about as piss-poor job managing the tactics and messaging as possible and some of his caucus will likely lose primaries because of it.
