You prompted me to listen to OK Computer for the first time in a while. Which reminded me that I walked into my office the day Bush v Gore was announced and played Electioneering on repeat for like 2 hours. No one complained. This shit has been going on my entire adult life.
Oh sure, but IIRC it was the only song of theirs to chart or get much mainstream radio play (out of what, a thousand?!) so it's rage-bait for the purists.
College in the mid-90s. He was my age too and probably had psychic damage from not having "I was at Altamont" cred with the already-aging OG Deadheads, but whatever the reason, he was just that particular toxic gatekeeper fan archetype.
dude this is just a word salad of things you invented to bolster your motives for - i think ive got this right? - "bullying" a dead head 30 years ago by like telling them you like a song they likely thought was shit
I'm lucky enough to have never cared what people think, perhaps because I was a teenage boy in the hair metal era and I went through a Joni Mitchell stage then. I was never cool.
My best friend is a cellist and got to play in a string quartet doing radiohead songs. She's a huge fan, and was very frustrated that her colleagues were not fans at all. The position "too snobby for radiohead" and not occured to her as an available option.
I like "Kid A" and "In Rainbows" too, but yeah I always go back to "The Bends." And "Electioneering" is my favorite OKC track and it's basically just a "Bends" stray.
one time someone on twitter told me that liking older Radiohead is a women thing and liking In Rainbows or later is "such a man thing". I was very confused
Never heard of it. Part of the deal is, the local “rock” station is to blame. The only song of theirs they play is “Creep”. They also play two different Eminem songs, three Limp Bizkit and literally anything Linkin Park puts out.
It’s a terrible station. They blocked me on Twitter.
me when I was in front garden box seats (that I did not pay for) at a Radiohead show at the Hollywood Bowl and loudly misidentified a song they started playing to the all-musician group of Radiohead fanatics I was with. the exchange basically created an impromptu corresponding performance art piece
Ok Computer is a perfect masterpiece. I listen to it in full at least once a month. People can piss off lol. Sometimes a thing is insanely popular and beloved because it is just that good.
Now I’m thinking, who would it be funniest to confuse Thom Yorke with on purpose to piss people off (I have done with with David Lynch and David Byrne for years)
Radiohead for me was an acquired taste. I probably would never have gotten into them if I hadn’t listened the hell out of a few specific songs I liked.
Try being a Van Halen fan who believes Sammy Hagar was the better singer. The Roth fans come crawling out from everywhere to tell you how wrong you are.
I remember ripping OK Computer back when I was easily ripping 20 CDs a week (borrowed from my local library) and I noticed the album art looked extremely similar in style to various illustrations in the XY Magazine Survival Guide that an online parental figure had sent me
I still remember Radiohead in concert a few years ago and they came out playing random notes. Everyone thought it was a new song, the best since Creep.

No regrets!
There was a bit where it was hated for blowing up the scene and making tickets impossible, but I don't think that's been true for decades really.
man, you really taught that longhair a lesson

Note for filters or unfamiliar: the above is song lyrics from Talk Show Host by Radiohead. Don't take me bro.
Ps how many people are in your mentions trying to tell you which album you need to listen to
Actually, now I think of it, I'm not sure when the last time I listened to them was...
It’s a terrible station. They blocked me on Twitter.
