I think before we get too caught up in what Bluesky should or shouldn’t be we should soberly acknowledge what it is: a retirement home for 2000s forum millennials

Ah yes, the halcyon days of the turn of the century, when the US president was someone born in the 1940s, and Ronnie O'Sullivan was one of the world's best snooker players.
OK so this is funny and true and also an attack on me personally, but also I think the forumy atmosphere this place has right now is genuinely one of its best qualities.
Bad news, I’m a Gen Z 2000s kid in his 20s who is a Twitter expat. I’m saying this to remind Millenials that the oldest of your generation are 44 and the youngest of your group are 29-27.
sometimes there's real clever teens on the forums and it's like
I get it, I've been this, you need to be this for a while before you blossom into something better. I just don't have the goddamn time at this point to interact with anything but folks at the end of the process. blessed be the teachers
on the other hand, if it means we don't have to deal with tiktok gen z'ers and their completely incorrect and very annoying use of 'ratio', I'm ok taking this arrow to the posting knee
I spent a lot of time on automotive forums in the golden years. A few have survived due to a few dedicated admins. forums are the perfect place to share niche information but we gave it up for Facebook groups full of scammers and algos that disappear interesting useful content in favor of new trash.
*sees no issue with this given there are a lot of us*
Feels apt though as an assessment given how there's that general "look we've seen enough drama to fill a book, maybe keep it out of this site for once?" vibe here.
This is correct but this is also why I decided this place is where I landed post twitter. I am old, I am a veteran of a thousand discourse wars, I have seen the Lockheed Martin Nepo Baby on the shoulder of Orion. It is time to die rather than embarrass myself by trying to use "rizz" in a sentence.
What do you mean? Everyone on the other site is a real person, with real feelings, who is trying to sell you a REAL guide to getting rich that the FAT CATS don't want you to know! Just follow this 15-step program and give me $20 a month forever and you too can learn how to become rich without trying

Oh god, am I an Elder of Bluesky? 😲
Oh well, as long as I don't have to be respectable.
Oh wait...
We both still get blamed for the fallout of the actions of the Boomers.
That and the fact like older gen-z from the early 2000s grew up mostly with a semi-millennial childhood
which i think is a-ok
(“Ok grandma, let’s get you to bed”)

Gen X is always forgotten 😕
Now go finish your studies, young man.
Don’t go and turn into a forum junkie like the rest of us!

more like a Valhalla of keyboard warriors.
Okay.
If anyone who sees this fits the bill, please say something! I need to follow you!
