politico playbook has never been good but this edition, from the rag’s old UK editor jack blanchard, is fucking egregious

Why are the elected Dems surprised of all this? How come I knew, but they didn’t?
That this was “democracy at work” is a fatuous claim
voters couldn't get ENOUGH of that stuff
Truly a Bonapartist view of politics.
The problem is we are a country of apathetic and unserious (and in many cases, nihilistic) people who are either ignorant to what is happening, or are entertained by it,
"We" are giving our democracy away through our democratic voting process, with help of massive disinformation.
Putin said he would not invade Ukraine.
Same playbook here. "Flood the zone with s***!"
"Even though he said he'd be a dictator day one and we said that wasn't serious, he did say it and the voters knew that's what he wanted. So him actually being a dictator is what every voter wants and there no legal issue."
Is Buzzy Benny censoring your sucking?
Media: "he's not really going to do this evil thing"
Trump: *wins election, does the evil thing he said he was going to do*
Media: "well you can't complain because he said he was going to do this evil thing and millions of people voted for it, so... *shrugs*"
Brought to you by the authors of "Trump Has Nothing To Do With Project 2025, Stop Being So Alarmist"
American DESERVES Trump.
Politico EiC John Harris on Blanchard: “I felt that he would delight in the vast carnival of Washington, and that people would delight in reading his perspective.”
D.C. is just a night at the circus for these clowns.
Why didn’t this pompous twat just say “you can’t blame the leopards for eating the faces of people who voted for the Leopards Eating My Face party. That’s merely democracy. Don’t blame the leopards.”
And I suspect that’s his illiberal subtext.
so here we are, in the soup they intended for us. The least we can do is not help them 🤷♀️
But Trump disavowed it and said he hadn’t even read it. The average American has a 6th grade reading level, 1/3 who voted for Trump are often at a 3rd grade
Step 2. Say whatever will appease the faces right in front of you.
Step Always. Deny, deny, deny. Lie, lie, lie
That doesn’t make any of this constitutional though!
• had his fingers crossed
• was touching blue to make it true
• has a mob of violent criminals at his beck and call if things don’t go his way
ignore @politico.com
they are in the tank for donny

Both parties said little about what they are for compared to how much they said who they opposed.
Americans unhappy with Dems are not automatically in favor of a dictatorship.
77 million people don’t get to negate the rights and protections of the other 280 million
Who knew we could just avoid all the stuff about amendments and constitutional conventions, and just throw it away?
A bicameral congress, judicial review, and the Bill of Rights all exist to try to save democracy from itself.
It still isn’t legal but this is what America chose.
But on the other hand: Trump did tell us he didn't like that law and wouldn't follow it.
Did I both sides right?
And finding for Trump on the impoundment issue is a lot less of a stretch than the immunity decision, which required a complete re-write of the Constitution.
Puppies stop whining after a couple of weeks.
Americans voted for Trump knowing exactly what he was about.
Stop whining, and take your medicine.
That apparently didn't motivate the 89 million voters who never showed up at the polls.
And under-30 voters had a turnout of 42%, while 65+ voters (Maga-heavy age group) turned out at about 72%.
Shame on us, too, sadly.
*the reason is that almost every reporter in Washington has their head so far up their ass they can eat their lunch twice.
Democrats: “We will work with this administration on a bipartisan deal to help blah blah blah.”
No you fools. You don’t work with this orange turd. You vote no ALL THE FUCKING time he anoint someone as the head of FBI etc..
Is that how Politico thinks it works?
Hmm
Why is that coming to mind ?
Historic precedent maybe?
this person gets paid to write about politics...
Can’t believe I have to say this. And yet, that’s the moment we find ourselves in.
When the MAGAts physically turn on Тяцмр then we can talk forgiveness. Now is not that time.
Add to that he’s a convicted felon, fraudster, rapist, liar, & traitor (Helsinki et al).
We have our norms.
The very concept that they may have a higher responsibility to truth, democracy & governance is completely foreign to them.
Also, nobody should trust Politico anyway. They’ve always been in the bag for Trump: https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/politico-owner-pray-for-trump-mathias-dopfner-axel-springer-1234587243/
“Well of course Trump is doing X, this is what he said he would do, and The People™ wanted him to do it, so you should just accept it”
Maduro would be proud.
"Hitler is got elected, so it's all fine & good cuz he warned them he's a fascist 🤷♂️"
