There was one singular person the Trump team wanted to kill. They thought they tracked him to his girlfriend’s place, presumably in a civilian apartment building in Sana’a. So they dropped bombs on the neighborhood and leveled the building. Reactions from the group:
“amazing job”
“Excellent”

Administration reacts to collateral damage. He appointed flawed and unqualified people.
But not in Saudi Arabia
What?

That's how fucking depraved it is
Regret the error.
Disgusting.
The worst part (by far) is admission that decision made to target someone in a way that guaranteed high civilian deaths for NON-TIME SENSITIVE MISSION.
Alas.

An apartment can be a fourplex or a high rise. Israel seems to officially accept 200-1 incidental civilian deaths. I hope we do not do the same directly.
Also seems really dumb to assume this frees up the shipping channel.
I disagree if you are saying @theatlantic.com didn't handle this situation very well.
I think they have outstanding writers, some of whom I disagree with regularly and still think are outstanding.
If I wanted an echo chamber I would turn on MSNBC or FOX
On the other hand, one thing I did notice about that is the reference to having “eyes on” a target, purportedly a Yemeni missile operator. A further security breach.
When is uk state invitation by king ?
We didn't have to talk even about US drones accidentally bombing weddings in Afghanistan or Syria, we can start with José Couso's murder or even if you want with the Agent Orange Fckup that is still a deadly risk for thousands of people.
But this one is depressing.
In every real sense, the law is that these are NOT war crimes anymore, and that the “law” says power can do what it wants, because almost everyone agrees that it can.
this is deadly serious stuff

Birds of a feather
Shock and Awe.
They decided to kill a bunch of non combatants to get one guy. One of the main reasons these people hate us in the first place, we kill indiscriminately.
Was there a legal advisor included in the text thread?
Fuck the USA and its empire of death.

Maybe that is "normal" for war planners, but could you or I be that cold blooded?

One of the things I loved most about Hitchens was his take down of Kissinger. I think I'll read that again and laugh at how far we've fallen. A laugh born from deep, disturbed, sadness
One thing Mr. Goldberg probably just did is, delayed a war with Iran.
Every time.
I’m wondering if Jeff Goldberg wasn’t added intentionally by Waltz daring him to take the bait, just to make the point the entire lot of war criminals ARE “above the law” (as they are: DT can give them all pardons, & they’d all be scot-free).
After the inauguration, that morphed into "the generals have 90 days to come up with a plan for destroying ISIS."
The plan turned out to be "Obama's plan (which had nearly wiped out ISIS), but with more war crimes."
Tragic, yes, but the response here feels wildly out of proportion.
(Not disagreeing with your point though)
What kind of God would answer prayers to kill other human beings?
But where is The Boss? Who signed this off?
‘Michael Waltz set disappearing message time to 4 weeks’.
