Dem bashing should better understand the ideological differences & perhaps the weather, driving the states economies, first.

forcing Dem's out of the political castle, painting a common picture & getting more shit done, no matter what, is critical.
The Democrats' "fear of power" is true, but saying this after Biden's successes rings hollow.
From my perspective, many democrats facing retirement, can’t afford to pay between $8-25,000 in property taxes, when their kids are now adults. The cost of goods in blue states is much greater than in red states. Folks move to TX, NC, etc because it costs less to live there.
However, until blue states make it cost effective for the elderly to live here, many will leave, regardless of politics.
Nobody over 65 should have to pay thousands per year in property taxes.
I can’t imagine why 🤔😂
No offence intended, Moose Jaw.
We're not overpopulated. Half the state is empty.
Our problem is that our current buildings aren't built for modern weather conditions and we don't wanna do anything about that because we like neighborhood character.
I don't want to yell at people who just lost their house but that's crazy
One thing the Republicans and Democrates have in common -failure to COMPLETELY READ an article or the inability to comprehend.
I am hoping it is the former not the latter.
This is, of course, assuming you failed to actually read the entire article as opposed to failing to comprehend it.
The main and best points made are written in the last two- thirds of the article, not the first half.
I want so much for democrates to help the American people turn this country back to " we the people"
I am surrounded by MAGA, so I know how democrates are seen. Democrates have an image issue even when their ideas are good.
I am assuming there is nothing wrong with your comprehension.
63% of California is either desert or Mountains with 8 million more people. Simple supply and demand. Just build more houses? Anyone who thinks we can put an infinite number of people on a planet with finite resources is either a madman or an economist.
OTOH Houston and DFW can go on forever.
It wasn’t policies on abortion or guns or mass school slaughters or immigrants or medicare or social security or a criminal in the WH…
It came down to the cost of groceries and housing.
When I have to spend more money on things, it's because there are liberals and immigrants and other people I don't like.
do I think Biden admin did a fantastic job managing inflation while investing in America? Sure do.
But Dems didn’t hold hearings week after week dragging in CEO’s.
Food
Housing
Health care
School
Without those things nobody can keep breathing and sleeping at night.
Surprising Chris Hayes lacks common sense and easily accessible information on this subject as it is talked about all the time.
Fire, Flood, Earthquake, and Drought
Love MA and CA, and it's no mistake that they keep landing in the top 10 quality of life surveys.
I can drive to skiing or a beach or wine country in a few hours or less.
So artic circle, here I come
PS $349,000 is not that cheap.
It’s California! They have Greg Abbott as their governor, and are still using lassos to get a date.
Don’t let the “no state income tax” fool you!
In SoCal, we have mountains & narrow valleys that make developing land very expensive. Blowing off a mountain top - without making it geologically unstable is not a trivial process & can take a decade.
The easy places to build have all been built up.
I'm hopeful that with this tragedy, we will add some higher density homes. Near the metro lines
Like using Florida's Covid "data" to support national vax policy.
Ludicrous on its face.
WANT to live in Cali.
Ask a worker who works in the energy field in Massachusetts if they make the same wages as a worker in the same field in Wyoming. I bet it’s not the same
The sky is what I always think of as to why I love it here more than NYC.
Act like you care about that.
Republicans don't spend 18 years studying to ban books like NY spent 18 years on congestion pricing.
Vs. Texas? Please.
It's called sunshine ☀️ tax.
Some people need to learn basic logic
Zoning should reward taller buildings on roads like El Camino Real.

Warning: Women/girls relocating or residing in Texas face elevated risk of physical harm and/or death.
I’m in the bluest spot of a red county in a blue state (washington). And I’m here because it’s my home and where my partner’s family is. But I used to be in Seattle.
Fran Leibowitz
If you need any service like unemployment insurance, you will starve in a red state.
- Drive home in Subaru with "C03xIsT" bumper sticker
- Adjust "In This House, We Believe" yard sign, and go inside
I live on a hill, narrow road, if we allow everyone uphill to mutiplex their SFRs then the traffic load goes up geometrically.
Allowing unchecked growth w/out infrastructure upgrades doesn't make everyone better off, it mostly enriches a few.
Texas cities can just expand like a blob.
law written, that states, there be a 5 mile open space(nature) between any new housing. We desperately need new housing, too.
I cant afford home, i cant even afford rent with roommates. And that is worse in bigger cities which are the bluer parts.
*Personal freedoms not included
AMIRITE?😆
This article is beyond facile.
Blue states should not be relaxed about this. They should be competing to keep people living in CA, maintaining house representation. The state could lose 3 seats in 2030 and NY could lose 2 more.
That drop resulted in losing a house congressional seat.
CA lost a house vote and TX gained 2.
The GOP house margin is sliiiiiiiiiim. Let that sink in for a bit.
California is WAY ahead of many states: they’re open to new, fresh ideas AND willing to get rid of bad ideas & programs.
They have higher taxes, but people who live there BENEFIT from that.
TEXAS has high property and sales taxes, but offers its residents limited benefits.
To be very clear, I am glad people are talking so much trash about this wonderful place. There are already enough asholes in Cali.
The problem is not a lack of housing it is the private equity and hedge funds buying all the properties then sitting on them.
It would be a million more families not struggling and bleeding out.
Instead cities permit zero, forcing the less wealthy to live in places like Texas.

I moved because the sky is so fucking beautiful here, everyone is part of a band, music is more integral part of my kids lives than I ever had growing up in Staten Island. I wasn’t able to afford a home and keep pursuing architecture in NYC.
Before the pandemic he used to do live shows - painful and pathetic. He thinks he’s a comedian. Kept falling flat. That’s when the dumpster Muppet thing popped into my head.
Do you believe there is some unavoidable trade off between having abundant housing and abundant repro rights? I’m not sure why that wld be.
Cross pressured voters? I’m not familiar with the term plurality voting.
What about Minnesota? What about Michigan? What about parental leave, workers rights? covid?
The idea that Dems are “afraid” to wield power is delusional and while housing policy has been bad, it’s ludicrous to say people have “chosen” GOP governance
Actually, it started with my cousin’s husband convincing her to go there, then she found out he’d been cheating on her forever. So now she’s single and stuck in Texas cause of the kids.

All they see is that they can finally afford rent and another bag of groceries.
The rest won't hit until later.
Then they're screwed.
Housing abundance in blue states is a human rights issue.
(So sorry Ana…)
@deadder.bsky.social
Idaho population: 5% of California population.
Do you think there might be objective factors explaining the difference in housing costs?
Insisting that you do it by building high density housing everywhere is a stupid way to do so.
California housing is expensive because we use zoning to cap the number of homes that can be built in the places with jobs and economic opportunity.
2. ???
3. Improve abortion access
If housing prices were lower in California you wouldn’t have to help someone who HAD TO move to Texas, because they couldn’t afford California anymore
What a weird reply
Thank you. Stay safe.
Obama and Bush
Rich men got paid
For.crashing the economy
As a former born-n-bred Texan, I can tell you Texas is a shithole state.
Even Chico’s housing market is under pressure due to not only the success of CSU Chico but climate refugees from the tragic Paradise fire.
Didn't you take Econ 101 in college?
There is only so much supply, and demand is high. People want to live in CA. Texas, not so much.
I mean, I wouldn't move to Texas even if you get a mansion for fifty bucks. I don't enjoy being a second class citizen.
They have lots of room to build but you're still going to be paying a million bucks for a dump in LA.
Cheap housing is going to be in like Bakersfield.
Just visited Austin in 2024....the TRAFFIC. OMG....B A D
I do not think Dems are afraid of power whether real or perceived, I think of Caesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta.
It’s not that simple, governing people is complicated. What I think is missing is strong leadership among other things. Agree, that change is needed. Who will be leaders?
As a person who grew up in San Francisco (1962-2001) I can agree with a lot of that article.
Texas allows water to be used and poisoned by its "industry". It has near zero building regulation that result in death and destruction from storms. Its power grid is more fragile than many developing nations.
"But the median price of homes!!!"
It explains how democrates are their own worst enemy and offering ideas on how to make changes.
Read the last half of the article because that is where the main points are provide
TX, water, grid - and abortion - are the result of what the piece advocates - "just do something no matter the groups it affects".
"... pound sand ..." is a slippery slope also - whose rights do you dismiss in the furtherance of this goal?
The headlines and picture are misleading, but it sure demonstrates how many actually read the damn thing.
It is written " backwards" like a book as opposed to how articles are written
I guess the logical conclusion is to create the most outrageous headlines and images in order to attract people who will read a nuanced and long form post?
Vs Texas that is ????
It’s all about the land here.
They get so many things right, but being unwilling to share the wealth cancels it all out.
Articles such as this only validates Trump’s dishonesty. Congrats on promoting it🙄
Bitching about their misinformation isn't going to help countering it might.
Only a few democratic leaders who want to be elected do.
Democratic leaders need to get thier asses out of the Ivory towers and interact.

Cultist.
3 months earlier, on June 10, the US economy had reached SUPERSTAR status.
"America's economic outperforming is a marvel to behold". That article is dated April 2023, 17 months earlier, yet Trump was running for POTUS & didn't know??
REALITY: Shutting down the GLOBAL economy during a GLOBAL pandemic had GLOBAL economic consequences such as GLOBAL inflation.
OR did YOU believe Trump's lie that inflation was Biden's fault??

If I had to choose between buying a house in Fresno or Dallas, I’d pick Fresno in a heartbeat.
Fresno has wretched hot summers, but then so does Dallas, and the real estate prices are comparable.
No it’s net leaving.
Gun deaths have surged under Abbott.
Northern California and home prices are closer to $400,000. You seem snarky
Jason explains in a detailed fashion the level of corruption and dysfunction of living in a red state.
But even still when you look at interstate migration more people move from Texas to California than the other way around.

We'll see how these low tax areas keep up with infrastructure needs of a swelling population
My favorite part is democrates need to get rid of those who do nothing but virtue signal minus any action
Often it's people who are devoid of virtue that are the ones whining about "virtue signaling".
The Republicans don’t care if they upset anyone, they just do what they want, Democrats need to think the same way. the California rebuilding is no joke, this is there chance
Maybe the cost of living is high because demand is high. You can spin numbers to mean nearly anything and this writer spun for the sake of an article.
I know many women, including me and my family, will not be moving from my blue state to a red state. Ever.
Topography, weather, job markets, population.
Now I have to look up median wage differences.
CA median wage $47,920 average $93,517.
TX median net worth
$47,019, average net worth $599,236.
CA median net worth
$85,581, average net worth
$787,755.
People will pay more to live where the money is and the weather is good, it’s real estate 101.
When I look at this map I think Democratic States are doing a better job and it’s not close.
In case you haven't noticed, it is the voters in blue states who decided they want Democrats in charge.
This is some fucked up shit.
The fact is, people are leaving blue states because of a housing shortage, and blue states keep choosing policies that perpetuate the housing shortage.
The other policies are good, but bad housing policies mean ppl can't enjoy them.
Next city over: We love immigrants and all oppressed people! What? Fuck no, you can't live here....
I’ll also add the zero GOP policies lower housing prices. The reason many red states have lower prices is because they are less desirable places to live with lower demand.
This article has a grain of truth but to distill it down to a one year contest between TX and CA and that Dems ‘fear action’ is silly. Newsflash: these problems are hard to solve. That’s it.
...also..the majority of new arrivals get a sticker shock when they get their property tax bills.
.....and Texas has been sold to the billionaires...laboratory for P2025.
