That man is Wearing that sweater, he is just built for it.
Also really love his looks of malice as he considers committing a terrorist act against the kind of capitalism that ruins everything it touches in life. Same man, same
The kind of top pattern that I definitely remember from the 90s but is conspicuously always missing from the wardrobes in films and TV shows set in the 90s
i bet you could find it second hand if you tried. i recently picked up a $600 ralph lauren heritage sportcoat in a linen-cotton houndstooth for like $150, second-hand.
I haven't looked in a while, but I was surprised at how much good stuff you could find on ebay. Especially on bigger labels like Ralph Lauren. When I needed a tux for a wedding I got a Canali for around $120 that just needed some tailoring for fit and to update styling (tapering the trousers).
i have a bunch of high-quality stuff in my wardrobe — sport coats, trousers, shorts, shirts — that i have picked up second hand from ebay or poshmark. you just have to be patient and know what you’re looking for.
It’s gorgeous. And I went to look, and of course I was immediately sent to another episode of Why Do Men Have More and Better Color Options Than Women? A 21st Century Shopping Story:
How’s the quality been on the menswear? I used to love JCrew but the quality on the women’s clothes took a sharp nosedive. I’d love to go back if they’re holding up better now.
This is how fashion ought to work, but fashion modeling doesn't fulfill it. I don't need to know how these pants or that print looks on a teenager carved from marble, I need to know how they look on a schlubby middle-aged guy whose wellness routine is "putting on aftershave"
Hmm. I bet that's where I first got the idea that modern business is about getting people to buy what you want to sell instead of just selling what people want to buy.
I don't have the historical chops to dispute that. However, it does run counter to the standard description of the competitive free market that I grew up with.
Back when I was in college, I heard a saying that, "You knew that the child inside of you had finally moved on when you started identifying with Calvin's dad."
What I dig seeing these lately, and will probably lead me to dig out my complete collection, is that I never realized Calvin's dad, in a very real sense, is just Calvin's Future/an Adult Calvin. Poor Calvin's Mom. Lol

MY WALLET’S GONE!! MY WALLET’S GONE!! AND MY SIGNATURE STYLE!!
Can’t comment on “declared preferences vs revealed preferences” (as economists might say), but the language of companies did indeed change.
Much of my life since my early 20s could be described by noting which "standard descriptions" I've left behind. This is just one example of such.
I may not have much in the way of expertise, but I try to pay attention and learn.
