By Grabthar's Hammer, it's Truly Madly Deeply. Die Hard isn't even in top 10. If you had asked, "fav performance" then Snape might've beat all. Those Potter movies weren't great but Rickman's scenes were magical.
Tell a person that you’re Metatron and they stare at you blankly. Mention something out of a Charlton Heston movie and suddenly everybody is a theology scholar
My favorite is absolutely Colonel Brandon. But can I just say, I think that Robin Hood movie is such complete and utter trash. But his performance in it was SO good. What a magical human he was. 💔
I'd say possibly my favorite performance of his is Marvin The Paranoid Android, but I actually do not really love the Hitchhiker's Guide movie so it's not my favorite movie with him if that makes any sense lmfao
The radio play is tremendous fun to listen to, even if you already know the book backwards and forwards. Highly recommend tracking it down if you ever need something for a long car ride.
Oh yeah the original radio show is my favorite version of Hitchhiker's along with the TV show. The book was the first thing I experienced though and it's still one of my favorite books
That show was incredible. It looked like low budget Doctor Who, and I adored it. Speaking of BBC shows that are Douglas Adams adaptations... THIS was the good Dirk Gently and I will die on this hill:
Favorite role of his was his guest appearance on King of the Hill when his character drops the Alan Rickman voice and lapses into a southern accent. He did not do a good southern accent 🤣
Not just Robin Hood POT but the extended cut, which is just an hour extra of his Sherrif being even weirder, hammier, and more depraved as he just fucking goes buggers. It's unreal.
I can’t find the interview now, but I saw a clip of Rickman talking about Robin Hood, and an actor was watching Rickman do his scenes as the Sheriff of Nottingham and said, “I want to be in THAT movie.”
I have Best Rickman Moments but could not possibly choose only one performance.
There's one where he's a wine critic, but I can't remember the title. There's a scene where he tastes guacamole for the first time and just blisses out. It's perfect. No dialogue, just joy.
Glad to see it mentioned by more than me. Sometimes I think I’m the only person I know whose seen this film. Usually get blank stares when I mention it.
It's - sort of - the story of the Steven Spurrier tasting in Paris, in which California wines, white and red, first persuasively topped the Frenchies. Rickman is Spurrier. Excellent cast, really: also includes Dennis Farina, Bill Pullman, and baby-face Chris Pine.
The other fun fact about the film is that, apart from the lovely exterior shots of the Chateau Montelena winery in the Napa Valley, every last bit of it - including everything in "France" - was shot in and around the Valley of the Moon and the town of Sonoma, next county west of Napa.
The actual winemaker of the Chateau Montelena Chardonnay that won that tasting, Miljenko "Mike" Grgich, is never mentioned in the film. He passed away within the past few weeks, at age 100, having outlasted Kissinger while contributed more beauty and pleasure to the world than most.
Sounds like it’s right up my alley. (Cursing the fact that my epic local dvd rental place has closed. They had absolutely everything. No, really, everything.) Streaming doesn’t hold a candle.
Film? Galaxy Quest, which is nigh unto perfection. Role? Torn between Alexander Dane in that and his Sheriff of Nottingham, a superb piece of work in a movie which aged... poorly.
Something the lord Made! It is such a great movie with him and Mos Def and is based in on a true story! If you haven’t seen it you really should! Do yourself that favor.

Truly Madly Deeply
But I also have a thing for The Winter Guest as S&S’s sad aunt. He loved Emma so much.
"I'm warming ... my lips ..."
Also here to block anyone saying HP

“Why a spoon, cousin? Why not an axe?"
"Because it's dull, you twit. It'll hurt more."
Harry Potter
Robin Hood Prince of Thieves
Love actually
Honorable Mention: Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
Just pure fun, that.
I say this as an extreme fan of the hitchhikers guide
Rickman made Marvin so believable and a hilariously downbeat joy.
I love the novels but thought that the movie wasn't *quite* there, but Rickman was on point.
He's acted in 70 films! To me, the first Diehard is iconic. It's also a Christmas movie! ::ready to die on that hill::
Though I will admit I've always found his portrayal of Snape in the HP films to be iconic. 😭💕
Honorable Mention is Bottle Shock
Sense and Sensibility
It's a b-movie but Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman are fantastic.
Don’t we all miss him?
I have Best Rickman Moments but could not possibly choose only one performance.
"What're you gonna do? Hit me with that fiiiisssssshhhh...."
And I want to say Something the Lord Made because any movie about Vivien Thomas is gonna be good
but Galaxy Quest is so obviously correct
Sense & Sensibility
Mostly because of the Spoon line. 😏
