my outsider perspective on US politics is that it seems like i spend 4 years getting told the democrats can't do the thing because they need just one more vote, and then the republicans get in and can do whatever they want because half of the democrats vote with them
Comments
That's it.
That's the reason.
no
The Democrats are not doing a good job, but saying they're a fascist party is wrong. It's misinformation that makes things worse for those opposed to fascism.
Taking them at their word, these people don't believe in anything

WHY ARE DEMOCRATS VOTING LIKE REPUBLICANS?
(Seriously though—no regular ole voter remembers confirmation votes. The idea that voting for a shit nominee helps win over swing voters is absurd.)
We all know it's performative nonsense designed to hold power, and it'll just get more and more authoritative until it eats itself alive, right?
Apparently it's annoying to expect Democrats to be real opposition.
Just ignore the people actively getting hurt by Senate Democrats decisions...
There is a curse on the Democrats from a vindictive wizard eons past that stops them from doing anything but enthusiastically voting with the mini Hitler coalition even when they don't have to
Now, why they think this will work when it hasn’t so far and doesn’t seem like a good strategy is anyone’s guess.
Democrats: "don't forget to vote!"
in short, they’re lying to us
https://bsky.app/profile/hayao.lol/post/3lgwnnsd4yc2m
That's the resistance
Because the capitalist class knows how to vote in its interests!
Pretty much sums it up yeah. A mix of DINOs and some poor souls still trying to compromise with the other side and not stopping to their level.
And American having not right and left but right and VERY right basically.
They get stuff done because they are regressive and destructive. Destruction is alot easier than progress, which is what Dems want.
Don't worry - most Americans are just as wrong as you are on this topic
This happens because it's a State by State thing.
Republicans wield power to enact their clear hateful goals.
Its sunk cost Falicey all the way down. Theres nothing here worth saving
None
But I admit tha itt is ragnarok for most of these fuckers.
Don't blame yourself. You won't know him until he is there
That’s why.
Trump is a criminal doing illegal executive orders aided by a right wing Supreme Court.
Dems aren’t criminals, & don’t have a corrupt & malicious Supreme Court to aid them like Trump.
It’s that simple.
why would you vote with republicans at all ?
also:
23 for Doug Burgum
24 Sean Duffy
7 for Kristi Noem
Thats on us the people.
But it’s on us civilians to oppose trump and always has been.
* vote against trump’s appointments
* vote against gop bills
* filibuster
* coherent messaging at a large scale
* provide meaningful vision besides “we’re not trump”
* support politicians who are popular and skilled at messaging
None of which they seem to be doing
I’m afraid this is & always has been up to we the people. Not the now minority party politicians.
LIKE STOP IT
👍
That's all. Not complex. It's only hard to govern if you care about the ppl, democracy and rule of law.
Non-GOPers tend to vote with republicans in the interest of the government existing, while republican’s don’t give a shit.
The problem is that everyone else gets what Trump voters voted for too and it will hurt the rest of us just as much, if not more.
This excuse-making is pathetic. The senate is confirming his appointments.
You aren't a builder. You are a collaborator.
Could’ve EO’d weed and student loans. Never did.
Strange laws.
But it's not that complicated.
As someone said:

If one party is willing to exploit, change, or outright ignore laws to advance their agenda, and the other only uses those laws as an excuse for inaction, it shouldn't be a surprise which side prevails.
I mean, I didn't want to hear a damn thing from them anyway. But now I'll just pig poop balls them on sight
If you take a year to build a house—customizing every little detail, then I burn it down in an hour… am I better at construction?
Rs have their one little power struggle, then fall in line. You don’t have to be super smart to share an extremist or fundamentalist view. It’s easy
Those who feel they’ll thrive if there is destruction really don’t care if it’s strategically planned by adults or because a toddler was driving.
At what? Good at ripping benefits from everyone & burn down the laws that were protecting people? I actually don’t think that’s a skill. It’s a disease.
It’s not a direct competition.
It’s not football 🥴
This has been well established for 80 years

A lot of this executive order and funding shenanigans specifically goes against the Raimondo case overturning Chevron, which they fought decades for to limit the power of federal agencies.
Now tho he has all of gov and the court so can stop him
Also saying how trump claims this or that on Gaza doesn't matter when it's ALREADY been bombed to shit
GOP trifecta: "I bet my wife we could commit 500 felonies today and she owes me"
Some are essentially Rs, and the rest infight over piddly crap and get nothing done.
(ex: Obama term 1)
Rs in charge: They are in lock step to do what the party says and have the Ds from above on their side.
(ex: Regan on, and that's just because I remember and lived through it.)
they couldnt get rid of obamacare for example despite spending basically the entire obama admin yelling about it
"Well, you see, it's not that simple, you idiot. You buffoon. He's just the President, not a King. He's not God. He can't just sign a sheet of paper and stuff happens. There's a process"
*Republicans get in and do whatever they want*
Anyway, fuck that guy
Is this true or false?
but the total is more than 10 times that, & he wrote the law that prevents its discharge in bankruptcy (unlike any other type of debt) so asking him to fix his fuckup with power that he had isn't unreasonable
after 40 years of neoliberalism, dems are either THAT naive & don't see the repeated republican play, or understand this is their function in the duopoly, & deliberately work in tandem as a 2nd right wing
for the liberals who believe in incrementalism, you've been inching your way DOWN.
A lot harder to build things and make positive changes and ensure they stick.
Stay safe, and keep speaking up.
They are ineffective. It’s not a bug it’s a feature.
We need corporate money out of politics. Americans need to get civically engaged to take back their government.
Part of the reason they can't do anything is because a whole 2/3rds want the diametric opposite of what the remaining third want. All the time, forever.
Turns out the only thing you can get these groups to ever agree on is "stay the course and don't make things *actively worse*".
Top image - Democrats when Republicans control Congress and the Presidency.
Bottom image - Democrats when they control Congress and the Presidency.
Spineless Democrats
You have to devote all your time and energy to get them re-elected or it's all your fault when the GOP do bad things.
Even the normie Libs are starting to realize just how feckless and lame duck the current Democratic Party regime is.
Well thanks for proving my point exactly, Jeff, LOL
DO YOU KNOW?
WE HAVE TO DO IT IN A BIPARTISAN FASHION.
THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF DECORUM.
“Shaun they’re breaking the law!”
I didn’t realize the law meant you had to vote to confirm their picks or listen to the senate parliamentarian
The only courage I see is coming from the bench. Even with personal threats, judges continue to uphold the rule of law.
If you have a pathological need to frame your banal observations of the mechanics of American politics in terms of "Democrats bad," I get it.
Our country has been sliding to the right for a really long time, so that the average Democratic Senator is a good Nixon Republican (conservative for his time).
Nowadays, we think of Jimmy Carter as liberal, but when he ran in ‘76 he was the more conservative choice in the primary race.
That's why.
And the Supreme Court is so compromised Biden couldn’t use EOs the way trump is doing cos they’d be struck down so fast.
It’s easy when you have the White House, Congress, SCOTUS, and the media fully backing you up
Glad we agree on that!
Which means they're not different from each other at the end of the day. One lowers the bar. The other normalizes the lower standard.
