i think that the people interested in recriminations and score settling right now aren’t seriously grappling with the magnitude of what happened and the implications for the rest of our lives. most of us will probably die living in the political order that will emerge out of this election.

This isn't gonna be over in four years.
But many did.
(I'm sorry-)
She and he share interests we do not.
Also, in the US, not true that it’s designed to reward the most popular candidate.
The Electoral College is standing proof that the American political system is not meant to be an actual democracy. It would be good if Americans start to really want democracy more than they want to tolerate oligarchy.
What is the plan of action when they repeal ACA and now insurance won't cover ANY of your bills?
I'm asking cause I sure as fuck don't know.
It may have been changing for decades, I hoped it would not accelerate this badly.
It actually IS important to understand how this happened and why. And to name those reasons because they matter to the next phase of the fight.
I mean I’m not suicidal or anything but it took me ten years to climb out of homelessness, to be able to survive, but the only way was through social security. There is nowhere for me to go if I lose it
It’s why their angry at the people who made it happen.
I take them at their word about what they plan to do.
At this point, I don't care about how we got here. I'm just trying to figure out what happens next.
Trying to not lose it and just give people some space.
I’m talking about the people who are used to surviving a republican government without too much damage.
They have no idea what’s coming.
The media failed to get this information into the mainstream.
When I mentioned it, most people had no idea what I was talking about.
I guess this is what they want.
None of the network stations put the info out.
Too many people only get their news from right wing owned news outlets.
I haven’t seen anything about Project 2025 in local news.
Like so many people I believe that we had more in common than not.
I was so wrong.
I don’t really interact with maga. That may be the reason I don’t understand how this happened.
I don’t associate with racists. 🤷🏻♀️

The United States is going to be a dystopian cross between Blade Runner, Altered Carbon, and late stage capitalism of Aliens, without any of the cool science fiction tech.
Fox and The Post will tell them how THEY are feeling
We were fucking laughed at for growing up in the Great Recession & not being able to buy homes because of shitty wages & inequality
We finally got on the edge of some positive momentum just in time to get the rug pulled forever
hell, why not a national strike? it's what european countries would do.
Dig up Arlington then.
RIP USA 250 years
"Revolution™" LARPers in particular are going to have a very bad time. They helped buy it, hope they enjoy it.
This sadism is in contrast to the supposed oceans of empathy they have for what (and who) they purport to care about - who will suffer horribly.
Not that they care about that, it's easier to performatively & smugly protest than actually work to improve the world.
Poll taxes and literacy tests are back on the menu.
and the only way out is through the shitshow (which is a generational lift)
so yeah idk bro, we should get muffins and watch parks and rec
I also feel they think it’s game and shit gets real we point at each other…
they have no clue who the real enemy is…and that’s the problem.
When that happens I can’t wait to turn my back to them.
I loved living in funky, cool weird Austin.
Been back a few times since and each time it fell a little more.
Doing both at the same time is what will help us strengthen a movement. Organizing. Unionizing. Strengthening our communities
Countries have voted away democracy before (look at Brazil) and then made things better
Let’s take a moment and then when ready, get to WORK. Get out of our comfort zones. Be bored. Do what it takes to gain power and keep it
I watched reporters talking to voters in line yesterday, with many saying they were still deciding who would get their vote. Like it was a popularity contest. This is tragic.
I will remind you all, again, to PLEASE read up on the history of the Romanian Iron Guard, the Iasi Pogrom, and the history of Guatemala under Efrain Rios Montt to learn how bad it can TRULY get
Note: They've ALREADY ADMITTED they're going full Project 2025
Protect yourselves, y'all
My hope is that he focuses on enriching himself and doesn't bother with the actual political reforms he promised.
I'm trying to be optimistic. Emphasis on trying.
Defeatism is pointless
But I think even knowing that won't stop the recrimination and score settling, it only makes people scramble harder for somebody to blame.
All I can think of is how that’s usually said to a little kid to naive to understand they’re about to die…
The only thing I know *for certain* about the future is that it has not happened yet.
I cannot imagine the next 2 years being good. May be a failure of my imagination.
Q&A: Trump's election victory means the end of his trials

People really don’t get it yet.
Trump is running the ol' authoritarian playbook. Anything good that happens? He's to thank. Anything bad? It's those bad people who won't give him the power he needs.
But never the Devil himself.
“Your life is about to get worse. Don’t think about why. Meditate on the fact that it’s going to happen”
It's the 80s all over again and you're going to have to go through a lot of Clinton's and bushes to get to an Obama who can just start to move the needle again.
Americans chose RACISM, BIGOTRY and MISOGYNY
So many are going to suffer
We are going to lose so many fundamental rights. My heart hurts.
