Okay, at the risk of enraging another yankee earl of pedantshire: How do y’all function while wearing coats in the car?
I don’t know what sensory chip I’m missing, but having that much material on my arms while driving makes me feel insane

“Is this warm enough to keep me alive if I got stranded” is what my old man taught me.
it’s why my garage is only used for my cars
when i didn’t have a garage, the car was started and warmed up before driving, and coats are taken off to drive
If I wear my coat in the car, I don't care if it's 17 degrees out, I end up needing the climate control on *cool*.
I have less insulated but good enough jackets to wear as it doesn't take long for the car to heat up.
much more annoying is adjusting the cat seat seatbelt for coat/non-coat levels.
Hell, back when I had to wear sportcoats or suits I couldn't drive with my jacket on either
the one thing that does irk me is most "smartphone compatible" gloves are a straight up lie
I think the ones born up here like laughing at the first real winter people.
One thing that helps is that keeping the coat zipped helps keep excess coat from getting in the way. Even if it's starting to get stuffy inside the car
Also, we sort of got used to it.
She'll wear a coat over a vest in the car.
Seriously though, I get how if you've never done it, it feels bizarre.
Also, the greenhouse effect is so real if I’m going to be in the car for 15+ minutes. I’m going no coat in the car, but I’ll use it as a lap blanket.
(Obviously, this is less appealing if you don't have remote-start.)
It’s hard as a big guy (I’m 6’4 and 300 pounds) to lug the coat around on me, creates more problems
then it's a matter of knowing if i can park close to my destination.
I’m as big of a winter evangelist as there is and for me getting in a car in a seasonably appropriate coat has still never resulted in anything but sweaty discomfort
But once the car sufficiently warms up, I shed it.
I also get hot really fast which just means I'm going to sweat and then it's going ot really suck when I get back out in the cold
We don't want to work up a sweat, that's where the hypothermia comes from.
Answer: I mostly take my coat off while driving and quickly put it on after i arrive
When we'd drive back to Ann Arbor from MN over the holidays, I would always drive coat-less.
So innocent and yet so incredibly dangerous
