Thanks! It took me a while to do more than stare at it, but it's a really nice, easy flow of a pattern once you get going. I've got a 3rd on needles at the moment.
i fuse and cut A LOT of shapes and motifs, so there’s tons of leftovers. i use them for other things. and then i cut more out to fill gaps in a design. it’s self-perpetuating 😅
What a great way to use up your stash tho!
I have always loved art quilts, and attempted it myself only once. It's so difficult, I really admire the skill that goes into it.
these are all fused so it’s a lot like collaging with paper! you do have to sew over the pieces eventually but it’s not the main focus so it’s ok to do it sloppy (i tell myself)
This cross stitch is huge, and took me an entire year, and was the first time I ever used a pattern. I am thrilled with what I did and so is my partner
I started a little herb garden and my parsley and basil in particular are growing really well. I can't wait until they're big enough to start harvesting. I also have chamomile and lavender going to dry for tea.
because i named our neighborhood roundabout and it stuck and people liked it and i also started running so hey wth i need a shirt to wear at the marathon
been making these ball in cup toys lately to get through some yarn that was thinner than i anticipated, but prior to that, i was on a mission to make as many pokeballs as possible
Knit polar bear with a sweater that has vintage Norwegian buttons. Polar bear at request of my granddaughter. (I also needlepointed the cat pillow behind the bear, come to think of it)
This is my garage brewery, which I designed and built with my own two hands, even learned to weld to make it. It is entirely mad scientist vibes and I love it.
A prosciutto - parmesan swirl bun. The wifely-one and I ate at Gordon Ramsay's Steak and these were served with the bread course. I spent years trying to figure it out, and I think I got pretty close.
I embroidered two shirts for my new baby nephews! The pumpkin one was for a baby due around Halloween and the hearts were for a February baby and I think they turned out so cute!
As I left all my finished cross stitch projects with my parents, here the pattern of the project I just started. Nothing really to show yet and it will take me the rest of the year to complete most likely, but hey, maybe someone wants to use the pattern. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GswVOheVzLy53YUQdsW_tkajnk9veUWy/view?usp=sharing
And yes, I created the pattern myself from pictures of Victorian cross stiching. Tried to come up with good ways to connect it around the corners and everything. 😅
This is a map for a 3 story mansion that my pathfinder crew is about to fully clear out. It's a Runescape themed game and the mansion is called Draynor Manor.
I sing in a choir that specializes in music from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. The music we made was incredible but unseeable, so I'll show this shawl I knitted with the flag colors of those 3 countries. 📸 taken in my favorite coffee shop in Tallinn.
Our curbside trash area was a muddy mess, plus our water shutoff valve was buried under dirt and weeds. We leveled the ground, uncovered the valve, surrounded it with pretty rocks, and put in pavers to make a flat, stable surface for the trash/recycling bins.
It’s in the “hell strip” terrace between the sidewalk and curb, so we couldn’t have paved it even if we wanted to. The rest of the area is a native plant garden.
It's the Paul McCartney sweater by Allyson Dykhuizen! Unfortunately I'm not sure it's available without taking her class, but there's a hat version on Ravelry.
On a less creepy note than the Halloween Barbie’s my partner and I made this chicken run, can’t take as much credit as her but I swung a hammer as directed
Better as video but for Halloween I made these face tracking Barbie heads using some dolls from a local creative reuse, a raspberry pi, some old lumber and a bit of python scripting. They follow you as you walk past
Well, it's continued since then but yeah that's when I started. I was sewing masks and wanted to sew other stuff and then decided if I was going to make my own clothes they should look like something I couldn't just buy (or afford to buy at least)
I think she’s saying that the volume and skill of the work in these photos makes it seem like you’ve devoted serious time to this since long before 2019.
I’m such a fan of this. I love how you didn’t post any of your incredible ‘day job’ art. Dracula, Motherf**ker is mind boggling and here’s my side creative outlet.
Here's a little rustic stool I built with wood from old pallets. Although I've been making all sorts of stuff for decades, this is the first thing I've done using all hand-tools, and with "proper" woodworking techniques. I'm very pleased with its robustness and usefulness.
It’s not totally done yet, but I’ve gotten into woodworking over the last couple months and made my first bench from some reclaimed wood. You can sit on it and everything!
my tape ball. an intermittent project for the past 13 years, it is about 33 pounds of 100% masking tape. sometimes i decorate it for holidays (like mardi gras, on the right)
A few months ago I replaced a large portion of our deck and am pleased with how it turned out. I’ll be *really* pleased after I get the next two sections done
Made a portable arcade emulator with joysticks and buttons with my best friend since 1st grade. He did the woodwork, I did the wiring and programming set-up. Here is my nephew Jake enjoying the fruits of our nerdy labor.
In late 2022 and early 2023, I started a series of cups meant to look like various buildings. Ironically, I thought this would reduce the amount if detail I carve into my works.
I need to do more, the next time I have access to a studio.
It was a weird little idea that popped into my brain. Sadly, my favourite one before glazing ended up poorly glazed. Though at least the cat came through...
i dug all the clay out of this big fuck off hole in my parents' back yard and we filled in the bottom with logs and leaves and whatnot, and put about 18" of The Good Stuff on top. should grow some good tomatoes this year
I built this basically because I had a bunch of 80/20 aluminum extrusions available and thought it'd be rad. Cable management out the fuckin ass on this thing. All the power bricks are hard mounted somewhere or another. No spaghetti anywhere. Love it so much.
During the 2020 lockdown, when we thought we could get covid by touching a bag of chips, I employed skills honed by eight years of churning out “get well” cards in Catholic school to create this beauty.
I like to take government data and make it look nice. This is an elevation and bathymetry map of Atlantic Beach NC. Walking and art are major stress relievers.

I write conlangs. I'm not sure if it counts because the illustrations aren't mine, but I've been doing a project where I've been re-translating an old kids' French phrase book into my made-up language.
I don’t have any thing to show. But! I worked at multiple electronics companies in my life. I built at one time prototypes of oscilloscopes for Tektronics in Beaverton, Oregon. I love ❤️ building things. I lost everything I owned 18 months ago.
ty! i had been toying with the idea for a while, but struggled with the base garment to put em on. these ones sucked -- not comfy, heavy nylon, and really, really inflexible. i ended up going with some rbx yoga pants that fit the design much better for v2!
I did one "learn to cross-stitch" kit and then used a DIY pattern maker and jumped into this 11x14" beast. I wish I had a better up-close picture, I love sharing this lol
This is a little mini collection of necklaces that are my favorite things I’ve made in my career so far, all for people very important to me! Black opals and aquamarines, with the right one also featuring tiny black pearls!
I knit this temperature blanket. Each square is one week of my first three years in Korea, the colors corresponding to the high and low temperatures of that week.
Just realized I could start a second blanket since I just began my 6th year here
It was... a while ago and before I worked out some rather essential things about myself, but I will forever be proud of this thing I wrote and composed and sung and put the video together for.
I made 3 different themed versions of the Pokémon Alcremie: Dragon Ball Z, Yoshi’s Cookie, and Animal Crossing. They were all made from leftover supplies I received from my late mother, my husband, or my mother-in-law 🙂.
I don’t have my tablet with me at my partner’s so I’ve been participating in an event for the art rpg I play by trying to draw traditionally. I’m not great at it, but it’s neat to touch and hold something I created.

How much of a piece like this is planned out and patterned vs improvising?
