I may regret asking this, but...if I wanted to read some really good contemporary horror (by contemporary, I mean the last 5-10 years), where would I start? Some parameters: In translation is fine, shoddy writing is not; not esp. interested in YA; absolutely loved Our Share of Night if that helps.
Comments
A few more are Last Days by Adam Nevill and Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman.

Here’s one story. Super short, but unforgettable.

#Horror
everything that Stephen Graham Jones has written in that time
"The Fisherman" by John Langan: Slow Burn
"House of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski: mind-bender, experimental in its form
"The Little Stranger" by Sarah Waters: While not horror in a traditional sense, It has a gothic feel and a pervasive sense of dread.
"When No One Is Watching" by Alyssa Cole
"The Hollow Kind" by Andy Davidson
Contemporary horror with emphasis on dark histories
Fairly new in the scene but really loved the watchers and creeper
Delves a lot into folk horror and how country side isolation can have a impact on the mind!
- Hex by Thomas Olde Heuvelt
- Those Across the River by Christopher Buehlman (all of his stuff, actually)
- Fever House by Keith Rosson
- Diavola by Jennifer Thorne
- Horror Movie by Paul Tremblay (but also definitely A Head Full of Ghosts)

"It", not "This"
The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones
The Reformatory by Tananarive Due
Off the top of my head...
So well written and presented and isn't interested in listing Dracula, The Shining, etc. All books mentioned are contemporary with a wide range of authors and subgenres. @sadiehartmann.bsky.social nailed it.
So very good
Older than your time period, but you might like Theodore Roszak’s FLICKER, which Moreno-Garcia seems to riff on in SILVER NITRATE.
T. Kingfisher is a wonder, her books have so much heart & humor while still being so creepy. Favorite is probably The Hollow Places
Adam Nevill still at it. Adrian Barnes 'Nod' an unusual take on the apocalypse. I also really enjoyed Whisperwood by @alexwoodroe.com inspired by Romanian folklore.
Andrew Michael Hurley's folk horror too
Australian author, and excellent horror writer.
-What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher
-Monstrilio by Gerardo Cordova

Might as well start with the master.
Smiling as I look up the answer myself.
